Film Synopsis:

Twelve-year-old refugee Sevko finds himself alone in Sweden after having to flee his native Bosnia during the wars of the 1990s. Sevko faces adversity in his new country, including bullying from other refugees, and finds unique ways to overcome adversity while waiting for news from home. A prologue to filmmaker Goran Kapetanović’s My Aunt in Sarajevo, Refugee 532 deals with the emotional and political fallout that occurs in the aftermath of war and conflict.


Director's Biography

Goran Kapetanovic is a Bosnian born director currently residing in Sweden. He studied film direction at Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts. His last four shorts and novel films have received 23 international awards, among others: shortlisted for the Oscars for the short Kiruna-Kigali, Toronto Short Film Festival (Best European Short Film), Montreal Black Film Festival (Canada Best Foreign Drama), Intl. Student Film Festival, Hollywood, USA. Between 2005 – 2010 Goran worked as a producer and mentor with workshops in Kigali, Rwanda where five short films were made together with people from Rwanda Film Centre. Films premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2007.
