Film Synopsis:
Što te nema is a short documentary about artist Aida Šehović’s public monument dedicated to the 8,372 victims of the Srebrenica genocide. Known as a “nomadic monument,” it is organized through an ongoing partnership between Šehović and Bosnian diaspora communities in a different city each year, and invites project volunteers and passers-by to assemble and disassemble a series of fildžani (small porcelain cups) that are filled with Bosnian coffee. Taking place every July 11th, Što te nema has traveled to 12 different U.S. and European cities since 2006, and this new documentary reflects on the project’s recent incarnation, in Boston’s iconic Copley Square. The film shows reflects on why such tragedies cannot, and must not, be forgotten, and how remembering them can foster connections across geography, and generations.
