Film Synopsis:

After September 11, 2001, the headscarf became perhaps the most politicized clothing garment in the world. Today in many Western countries, debate continues to rage concerning whether Muslim women should, in fact, be permitted to wear a headscarf in public. At the same time, some young women in post-socialist, post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina have decided to wear the hijab. They do this as a symbol of freedom of religion and personal conviction and faith; sometimes they do it as rebellious act against a capitalist, Western vision of feminism and female liberation. Undercovered offers interviews with six covered young women from different spheres of life. Among them are a karate fighter, an artist, an interpreter, a researcher, a taxi driver, a designer, and a photographer.
