

BHFF JURY AWARDS
Since 2012, BHFF™ awarded BHFF™ Jury Awards to the most outstanding films screened at the BHFF™ and selected by jury members as most outstanding in its categories. Members of the BHFF™ Jury are accomplished and recognized members from the Bosnian and American cultural, film, and art communities who have significantly contributed to the Bosnian-Herzegovinian film industry and culture in general.

JURY MEMBERS 2026

Selma Selman
Selma Selman is a visual and performance artist from Bosnia and Herzegovina of Romani origin. Her multidisciplinary practice includes performance, video, painting, and installation, often rooted in autobiographical narratives that confront social injustice, gender-based violence, and systemic discrimination. Her works have been exhibited at documenta fifteen, the Venice Biennale, Autostrada Biennale, Manifesta 14, Gropius Bau, Stedelijk Museum, Schirn Kunsthalle, MoMA PS1, Istanbul Biennial. Selman is also the founder of the foundation Get the Heck to School, which supports Roma girls facing poverty and Marginalisation.

Isak Berbić
Isak Berbić is a visual artist based in New York City whose work engages with social histories, representation, and contested narratives. His interdisciplinary practice spans photography, film, and installation, often examining the intersections of politics, war, and climate in relation to present and geological time. His work has been presented in international exhibitions, including the Timisoara Biennial, Havana Biennial, Marrakech Biennial, BRIC Brooklyn Biennial, Dojima River Biennale, and Singapore Biennale, and he has participated in research and residency programs such as Jatiwangi Art Factory, Transart Institute, the Art & Law Program, NARS Residency, and SOMA. Berbić is the co-founder of Brief Histories in New York City that hosts exhibitions, public programs, and publications. He is an Associate Professor of Art at Stony Brook University.

Željka Gita Blakšić (Gita Blak)
Željka Gita Blakšić (aka Gita Blak) is a visual artist, filmmaker, and educator working across moving image, performative archival practices, and countercultural histories. Using analogue media—photography, 16mm film, prints, and artist books—her work explores tensions between personal and collective histories on the edge of erasure, often through collaborative workshops and performances. She has exhibited and screened work internationally at venues including the Museum of Modern Art (NY), Kunsthalle Exnergasse (Vienna), The Kitchen (NY), and Framer Framed (Amsterdam). Recent presentations include the Art Encounters Biennale and the Gjon Mili International Exhibition. Her honors include the Apexart Fellowship, NYFA Film/Video Finalist award, and the Ruprecht Fellowship. She holds an MFA from SVA and a BFA from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb.

Over the last 12 years, BHFF has introduced a total of 39 jury members, representatives of Bosnian-Herzegovinian, American and international film, arts and literary communities, who have provided invaluable critical and curatorial reviews of works selected and presented at the BHFF.
The twenty-second annual BHFF will run in-person from April 22 to April 25, 2026.
