THE SEVENTEENTH ANNUAL BOSNIAN-HERZEGOVINIAN FILM FESTIVAL OPENS VIRTUALLY OCTOBER 27, 2020!

This year's Bosnian-Herzegovinian Film Festival is going to be held via a video-on-demand platform!
We are excited to announce the opening of the Seventeenth Annual Bosnian-Herzegovinian Film Festival (BHFF), slated to take place virtually October 27th - November 1st, 2020. Information regarding tickets and festival passes will be announced soon. While we cannot bring the many talented directors and filmmakers to New York City this year we are excited to host virtual and live Q&A events with filmmakers whose works will be part of the official BHFF 2020 Program.

Dear BHFF friends,
We have closely monitored the ongoing developments around the COVID-19 public health crisis and risk assessment. As a result of the current circumstances, BHFF staff has reached the decision to postpone our 17th annual film festival. The new festival dates are October 28-31, 2020.
BHFF ANNOUNCES 2020 ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE EMINA ŠKALJIĆ

New York, February 2020 – The Bosnian-Herzegovinian Film Festival (BHFF) is pleased to announce that Emina Škaljić, a student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo (AFAS), has been selected as our 2020 Artist-in-Residence!
As the winning designer of the BHFF’s 2020 promotional artwork (pictured above), Emina will be rewarded with a visit to New York City during the 17th annual BHFF, which takes place from April 8-11, 2020. She will present her project to the BHFF audience at the closing ceremony on April 11.

BHFF PRESENTS: ŠIMA AND DRAŽENKA ČULJAK, AND THEIR INCREDIBLE FEAT OF SURVIVAL

New York City, April 2019 — The Bosnian-Herzegovinian Film Festival (BHFF) invites you to the April 12 screening of Zdenko Jurilj’s documentary SISTERS, followed by a Q&A with sisters Šima and Draženka Čuljak, whose incredible feat of survival the film recounts. Through their harrowing voiceover narration, combined with poetically rendered reenactments, we learn about the sisters’ eight-day ordeal of being stuck in a snowy canyon and cut off from the world in sub-zero temperatures in 1985. After their rescue, both sisters, who were teenagers at the time, had to have their legs amputated below the knee.

New York City, March 2019 — The Bosnian-Herzegovinian Film Festival (BHFF) is proud to present a Q&A with Marta Hernaiz Pidal as part of the sixteenth annual festival! On Thursday, April 11, Hernaiz Pidal joins BHFF for a special Q&A event following the 8:45 pm screening of her film The Chaotic Life of Nada Kadić, a moving drama that seamlessly blurs fiction and documentary in chronicling the life of a single mother whose young child is diagnosed with autism.

Bosnian-Herzegovinian Film Festival (BHFF) in New York is excited to announce the lineup for its 2019 edition. A total of 13 films will be screened at the festival, which also includes a series of Q&A and discussion panels with filmmakers, running from Wednesday, April 10 through Saturday, April 13 at SVA Theatre, in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood.
